Quick answer
If your Thailand eSIM has no data after landing, check that the Thailand line is turned on and chosen for mobile data, turn airplane mode on and off once, and confirm the APN is www.dtac.co. Data roaming is not needed for this local eSIM.
What should I check first?
Most problems are a setting, not the eSIM. Work through these in order.
- 1Turn off airplane mode.
- 2Make sure the Thailand line is switched on.
- 3Choose the Thailand line for mobile data (Cellular Data on iPhone).
- 4Turn airplane mode on for 10 seconds, then off, so the phone searches for the network again.
- 5Restart the phone.
The line shows signal but no internet. What now?
Check the APN. On iPhone go to Settings, Cellular, Thailand line, Cellular Data Network. On Android go to the SIM’s settings, then Access Point Names. The APN should be www.dtac.co. Add it if it is missing.
On iPhone, also check that Allow Cellular Data Switching is off. Otherwise the phone may keep trying your home line.
The phone shows “No Service” on the Thailand line
Open the network settings for the Thailand line and turn on automatic network selection, or pick a True or dtac network manually. Wait a minute after landing; the first connection can take a little longer than usual.
Data works, but I can’t make calls or send SMS
On the 8, 15, and 30-day Unlimited + calls plans, outgoing calls and SMS stay locked until the line is verified. Under Thailand’s NBTC rules, from May 20, 2026 you must bring your passport to an official True or dtac store in Thailand for identity verification first. Data and incoming calls work without the store visit.
WhatsApp, LINE, and FaceTime calls run over data, so they work right away. The 15 GB and 50 GB plans are data only and have no outgoing calls or SMS.
Still not working?
Connect to airport Wi-Fi and email admin@kovitel.com with your order link and a screenshot of the SIM settings. Your QR and order details stay on your order page. If an eSIM cannot be issued, our team is alerted and the order is refunded.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to turn on data roaming for the Thailand eSIM?
+
No. It is a local True–DTAC line, so data roaming can stay off. Make sure roaming is off on your home SIM, so your home carrier does not charge you.
How long does the eSIM take to connect after landing?
+
Usually less than a minute after you turn off airplane mode. If nothing happens after a few minutes, toggle airplane mode and check the line is chosen for mobile data.
Can I reinstall the eSIM if I deleted it?
+
No. Each QR can be installed once. Email us with your order link if you deleted the eSIM by mistake.
Why can’t I make calls or send SMS on my Unlimited + calls eSIM?
+
Outgoing calls and SMS turn on after a quick passport check at a True or dtac store in Thailand, as required by the NBTC since May 20, 2026. Your internet and incoming calls already work, and WhatsApp or LINE calls work over data without the check.
